Summer day camp in Gilbert, Arizona
Sunhat is an eight-week summer camp for ages 5 to 13, in a school building beside a pool. Shade, water breaks and an afternoon water hour are part of every day.

Summer
Book the weeks that fit your summer. Every week runs Monday to Friday, with the same day and a new theme.
Learning the building, the pool rules and each other, with games in the courtyard shade.
Cardboard, tape and big ideas: bridges, forts and marble runs built in the gym.
Experiments that need a hot day: sun prints, melting races and a shadow lab.
Paint, clay and collage, ending the week with a gallery walk for families.
Extra pool time, relay games with sponges and buckets, and the cool rooms for the rest.
Team games, planned for the cooler hours of the day and moved indoors when it is hot.
Weaving, beading, paper craft and simple machines, a little at a time.
Campers plan and rehearse a show, and families come on Friday afternoon.

Every outdoor block has shade close by, and campers wear a hat with a brim. Water is on every table, and we pause for a water break between blocks, and more often when the day is hot.
Send your camper with sunscreen already on. After the water hour we stop for a sunscreen break, and a counselor reminds each camper.
The afternoon water hour is at the pool beside the school, with a lifeguard on the deck and counselors in the water. Each age group goes in on its own, and campers who need one wear a life jacket.
When the day is very hot, outdoor blocks move to the gym and classrooms and we text families about the change before camp starts.
An adult on your list signs your camper in and out at the door, and we ask for ID until we know you.
Tell us about allergies and medicine at registration, and we ask what we need privately. A camper with a fever stays home, and if a camper feels ill at camp, we call you and a counselor stays with them until you arrive.

From parents
“Someone is at the door every morning, and the weekly sheet told me about the water hour and the shade. I knew what to pack before the first day.”
“I work until five, and full days are what I needed. When the plan changed for a hot day, I got a text before we left the house.”
“The sun and water routine is written down, so my kids knew what to expect and so did I. The first week went more smoothly than I thought it would.”
